Do those whose hearts are sick think that God will never make their malice public? 29 Now had We so willed, We could have shown them clearly to you, and then you could have identified them by their marks, but surely you will know them by the tone of their speech! God knows all that you do. 30 And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; and We shall try your reported (mettle). 31 Indeed those who disbelieved and prevented others from Allah’s way, and opposed the Noble Messenger after the guidance had become clear to them – they cannot harm Allah in the least; and soon He will squander away their deeds. 32 O you who believe, obey God and the Prophet, and do not waste your deeds. 33 ۞ Surely those who disbelieve and turn away from Allah's way, then they die while they are unbelievers, Allah will by no means forgive them. 34 So do not faint and call for peace; you shall be the upper ones, and God is with you, and will not deprive you of your works. 35 The present life is naught but a sport and a diversion; and if you believe and are godfearing, He will give you your wages, and will not ask of you your goods. 36 [for,] if He were to demand of you all of them, and urge you, you would niggardly cling [to them,] and so He would [but] bring out your moral failings. 37 It is you who are asked to spend for the cause of God, but some of you behave in a niggardly way. Whoever behaves miserly does so against his own soul. God is Self-sufficient and you are poor. If you were to turn away from Him, He would just replace you with another people, who will not be like you. 38
