The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
