Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But save him who fears 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
