'Aad denied the messengers 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
