Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
