Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
