The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
