Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
