۞ It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful." 189 But when He vouchsafes them a healthy child, they attribute to Him partners regarding what Allah had bestowed upon them. Subliminally exalted is Allah above that which they associate with Him. 190 Do they attribute as partners to Allah those who created nothing but they themselves are created? 191 Who can neither help them, nor help themselves? 192 If ye call them to guidance, they will not obey: For you it is the same whether ye call them or ye hold your peace! 193 Those whom you (pagans) worship besides God, are themselves servants just like yourselves. If your claim was true, they should answer your prayers. 194 Do they (the idols) have feet to walk, hands to hold things, eyes to see, and ears to hear? (Muhammad), tell them (the pagans) to call on their idols for help and to plan against Me without delay. 195 My Protector is God who sent down the Book, and He takes into His protection the righteous. 196 And those whom ye call upon besides Him cannot succour you nor themselves they can succour. 197 When you call upon them for guidance, they do not hear. When you think they are looking at you, (in fact) they cannot see." 198 Accept the easing, order with fine jurisprudence, and avoid the ignorant. 199 And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaitan (Satan) then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower. 200 Verily those who fear God think of Him when assailed by the instigations of Satan, and lo! they begin to understand, 201 But (as for) their brothers (the devils) they (i.e. the devils) plunge them deeper into error, and they never stop short. 202 And if you do not bring them a miracle [according to their (i.e. Quraish-pagans') proposal], they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Quran) is nothing but evidences from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe." 203 So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy. 204 Remember your Lord in your soul with humility and fear, and not with a loud voice, morning and evening, and do not be among the inattentive. 205 Behold, those who are near unto thy Sustainer are never too proud to worship Him; and they extol His limitless glory, and prostrate themselves before Him [alone]. ۩ 206
