Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ta-Sin-Mim [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings] 1 These are the verses of the clear Book. 2 We shall narrate to you some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh, with truth, for people who would believe. 3 The Pharaoh had become high and mighty in the land, and divided the people into different classes, and impoverished one class, slaying its males and sparing its women, for he was indeed a tyrant. 4 And We desired to show favour unto those who were oppressed in the earth, and to make them examples and to make them the inheritors, 5 And to grant them power in the land, and to make Firon and Haman and their hosts see from them what they feared. 6 So We sent this inspiration to the mother of Moses: "Suckle (thy child), but when thou hast fears about him, cast him into the river, but fear not nor grieve: for We shall restore him to thee, and We shall make him one of Our messengers." 7 Then the family of Pharaoh picked him out to be an enemy and a sorrow for them, indeed Pharaoh and Haman, and their army were sinners. 8 And Firaun’s wife said, “This child is the comfort of my eyes and yours*; do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as our son” – and they were unaware. (Had Firaun also said the same, Allah would have granted him faith.) 9 And the heart of Musa's mother was free (from anxiety) she would have almost disclosed it had We not strengthened her heart so that she might be of the believers. 10 She said to Moses' sister, "Go, and follow him." So she watched him from a distance, like a stranger, without anyone noticing her. 11 ۞ We had already made him refuse all wet nurses. So his sister said to them, "Shall I tell you of a family who will bring him up for you and take good care of him?" 12 So We gave him back to his mother that her eye might be refreshed, and that she might no grieve, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true, but most of them do not know. 13
