The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
