And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
