And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. 33 And We produce therein orchard with date-palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth therein: 34 so that they might eat of its fruit and the labor of their hands. Will they not give thanks? 35 Exaltations to Him who created pairs of all the things the earth produces and of themselves, and that of which they have no knowledge. 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knowing. 38 and [in] the moon, for which We have determined phases [which it must traverse] till it becomes like an old date-stalk, dried-up and curved: 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And [it ought to be] a sign for them that We bear their offspring [over the seas] in laden ships, 41 and We have created for them the like of it whereon they ride; 42 And if We list, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout for them, nor will they be saved. 43 save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 And not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their Lord, but they are ever backsliders therefrom. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 Then they will not be able to make a will or return to their families. 50
