The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
