He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
