The chiefs of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer; 109 He intends to turn you out of your land. What counsel do you then give? 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Pharaoh said: 'What! Do you believe before you have my permission? Surely this is a plot you have contrived to drive out the rulers from the capital. So you shall see, 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They replied: 'We shall surely turn to our Lord. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
