And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
