We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 Yet these say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.” 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42
