The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
