The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
