The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
