The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
