(Muhammad), consider when Abraham prayed, "Lord, make this (Mecca) a peaceful territory and save me and my offspring from worshipping idols. 35 for, verily, O my Sustainer, these [false objects of worship] have led many people astray! "Hence, [only] he who follows me [in this my faith] is truly of me; and as for him who disobeys me - Thou art, verily, much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace! 36 Our Lord! Lo! I have settled some of my posterity in an uncultivable valley near unto Thy holy House, our Lord! that they may establish proper worship; so incline some hearts of men that they may yearn toward them, and provide Thou them with fruits in order that they may be thankful. 37 "O our Lord! truly Thou dost know what we conceal and what we reveal: for nothing whatever is hidden from Allah, whether on earth or in heaven. 38 All praise be to God who bestowed on me Ishmael and Isaac in old age. Verily my Lord listens to prayer. 39 Lord, make me and my offspring steadfast in prayer and accept our worship. 40 Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established." 41
