(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 Said Firaun, “Did we do not raise you amongst us, as a child? And you spent many years of your life among us!” 18 “And you committed the deed of yours that you committed, and you were ungrateful.” 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 And that favour wherewith thou didst oblige me was that thou hadst enslaved the Children of Isra'il? 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 So Moosa put down his staff and it became a visible serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
