(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
