The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeem. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 (within a few years) they will be victorious. 3 within a few years: [for] with God rests all power of decision, first and last. On that day the believers too will have cause to rejoice, 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfil His promise -- but most people do not know this; 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not reflect on themselves? Allah created the heavens and the earth and whatever lies between them in Truth and for an appointed term. Yet many people deny that they will meet their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 In the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do evil; for that they rejected the Signs of Allah, and held them up to ridicule. 10
