(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, 76 And made his seed the survivors, 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the nations. 79 Thus do We reward all those who do good. 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 Then We drowned the others 82 ۞ Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. 83 Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart. 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Is it a calumny, gods apart from God, that you desire? 86 What, then, do you think of the Sustainer of all the worlds?" 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 And he said: verily I am about to be sick. 89 So turning their backs, they went away from him. 90 Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?... 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand. 93 Then the people came toward him, hastening. 94 He said, 'Do you serve what you hew, 95 "When God has created you and what you make?" 96 They said, “Construct a building (furnace) for him, and then cast him in the blazing fire!” 97 (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous. 100 (In response to this prayer) We gave him the good news of a prudent boy; 101 And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." 102 When they submitted to the will of God, and (Abraham) laid (his son) down prostrate on his temple, 103 We cried unto him: O Ibrahim 104 you have confirmed your vision' As such We recompense the gooddoers. 105 that surely was a manifest trial, 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty victim. 107 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: 108 Peace be upon Ibrahim! 109 Thus do We reward the doers of good 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Ishaq, a prophet among the good ones. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among the offspring of the two some did good and some plainly wronged themselves. 113
