The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
