He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
