The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
