The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And no trifle. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
