The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 And the sorcerers came unto Pharaoh [and] said: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail." 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And we revealed unto Musa: cast down thy rod. And lo! it was swallowing up that which they had feigned. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 Thus they were overcome and made to look abject. 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
