Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HaMeem 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 We revealed it on a Blessed Night, for We were intent on warning; 3 On which all affairs are sorted out and decided 4 As commands from Us. It is indeed We who send (messengers), 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you people believe. 7 There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. 8 Yet they play about in doubt. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 engulfing the people; this will be a painful punishment. 11 Lord, remove this torment from us for we are believers". 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman. 14 Yet We will hold the scourge back for a while, (but no sooner than We will do so) you will revert to your old ways. 15 On the day when We will seize (them) with the most violent seizing; surely We will inflict retribution. 16 ۞ And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble apostle, 17 (and said): “Deliver to me Allah's servants. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you, 18 "And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. 19 And verily I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me. 20 'But if so be that you believe me not, go you apart from me!' 21 Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people. 22 So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued: 23 And leave the sea becalmed; they are a drowned host.' 24 How many were the gardens, springs, 25 And cornfields and goodly positions. 26 and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29
