The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
