The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
