The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
