Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
