The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
