So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
