The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 I ask of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 145 Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] -- 146 In gardens and fountains, 147 The fields of corn and date-palm trees with soft and tender spathes, 148 Will you still hew your dwellings in the mountains? 149 So fear God and obey me: 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." 152 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 But they hamstrung her and so became regretful. 157 So the torment took hold of them: verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 158 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
