And Jonah too was one of the Messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 "God has begotten [a son]"; and verily, they are lying [too, when they say,] 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you, how is it that you judge? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 we are the rangers, 165 and we glorify God". 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones. 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That they would be helped, 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
