The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
