The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
