He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
