The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
