The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a written book, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, "Indeed they have gone astray." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
