1/4 Hizb 17
< random >
The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 The others suggested holding Moses and his brother off and sending to all the cities 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
