Lot's nation, belied their Messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
