The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
