He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
